Buy pickup for electric basses at session

Without a pickup , also known as a pickup , no sound transmission would take place with an electric bass . That's why pickups are considered to play a key role in shaping the sound of a bass. Of course, the tone you perceive in the band is ultimately made up of many different factors, but the different types of pickups give the bass sound a clear direction.

Single-coil pickup for basses - the precision of the sound

The single-coil version , also known as a single coil , usually delivers a very open, honest and clear tone . The single-coil pickup is most often associated with the Fender Jazz Bass, which is why it is also colloquially called the Jazz Bass pickup . However, the big disadvantage of this single-coil design is that it is very sensitive to interference, which is why two of these pickup are usually installed and switched so that they prevent each other from humming. The first attempt to eliminate the pickup's sensitivity to noise was the split-coil pickup , in which one coil was split in the middle, mounted offset next to each other and then connected in series. This type of pickup was first found on the Fender Precision , which is why it is also called the Preci pickup (after the short form for Precision). The split coil delivers a very concise, throaty sound , which has well-defined mids and a rich bass foundation.

Humbucker pickup for basses - brutal bass without hum

Another way to eliminate noise is to connect two coils in series or parallel . The humbucker , which is much more common than the split coil, is based on this principle. Humbuckers, which is aptly translated as the humbucker coil, usually have a relatively high output and deliver a very assertive tone, which can have different sound patterns depending on the technology . The very large humbucker, which can be found on basses from Musicman , for example, is very rich in highs and brutal deep bass . On the other hand, the Soapbar Humbucker , which is built by the Musicman company and used on German premium basses such as Marleaux and Sandberg , sounds more emphasized and warm in the low midrange.
