Discover the Suhr André Nieri Modern S in detail

About Andre Nieri

André Nieri is a Brazilian guitarist and composer who is now based in the USA. André became aware of the Suhr brand through his musician colleague Scott Henderson and has been a big fan of the Suhr Modern models ever since. His first Suhr signature model is of course an elegant yet simply designed Modern S.

Elegant beauty with powerful sound

The body

The Suhr André Nieri Modern S is an ST-style guitar with a body made of real mahogany . This choice of wood sets it clearly apart from most other ST guitars and gives the basic sound of the Modern S a pleasant warmth without losing any of its punch. The body contours with arm, hand and tummy cuts are ergonomically shaped and enable a pleasant and comfortable gaming experience, whether standing or sitting. The natural-colored body, in combination with the maple binding , stands out very well from the matt black painted maple top .

neck and fretboard

The slim roasted maple neck of the André Nieri Modern S has a comfortable Even "C" slim profile with 41.0 mm (1.65") neck width, which even smaller hands can handle very well. The fretboard with a quick-playing 16" -Radius is made of ebony and perfectly supports the dark, elegant look of the guitar. The fretting with jumbo stainless steel frets ensures years of playing fun without having to do any annoying work on the frets. For better orientation while playing, the Suhr André Nieri Modern S is equipped with Clay Split Offset Face Dots, which always show you the way to the right note.

hardware

The golden hardware from Suhr and Gotoh crowns the elegant look of the Suhr André Nieri Modern S. The Suhr locking tuning machines allow for very precise tuning without having to wrap the string multiple times around the shaft. The proven Gotoh 510 tremolo with steel block enables precise intonation of the individual strings and guarantees tuning stability, even with excessive use of the tremolo arm. The carefully filed Tusq saddle also has a positive effect on the overall sound.

pickup

The pickup have always been the heart of the Suhr sounds , and of course the André Nieri Modern S makes no compromises when it comes to pickups. However, with two humbuckers it is equipped differently than many other ST-style electric guitars. The SSH Plus in the bridge position ensures an assertive sound , while the SSV neck pickup is responsible for the warmer sounds. The perfect sound can be adjusted using a volume and tone control and the five-way switch . In position three both humbuckers are split, the tone controls is only active in position one and five.

About Suhr Modern

The electric guitars of the Suhr Modern series are of course unmistakably based on the models of the Suhr Classic S and Classic T series. However, a few modern details have been added to the guitars: Instead of Vintage , the pickups sound much more modern and harder than those of the Classic series, and the design also focuses on modernization. The fingerboards are flatter and therefore perfect for fast, complex solos. The guitars have a simple yet convincing, modern optics with flamed tops or in a plain finish with matching headstock and bindings in contrasting colors. Every Suhr Modern electric guitar comes in a luxurious, padded deluxe gig bag.

About Suhr

In the early 1980s, John Suhr, who regularly played guitar in local bars and was a skilled craftsman, began building electric guitars and searching for the perfect sound to his ears. He started working at Rudy Pensa's Rudy's Music Shop, which is still known today for its high-quality guitars. The collaboration was a huge success, under the name "Pensa Suhr" John Suhr built electric guitars for Mark Knopfler, Reb Beach, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Steve Stevens and many more.
In 1995, John Suhr first joined the Fender custom shop as a senior master builder before fulfilling his lifelong dream in 1997 and opening a small guitar factory in California with his newly founded company Suhr Guitars. John already had a growing fan base, especially professional guitarists such as the aforementioned Reb Beach and Mark Knopfler continued to be his customers and attracted new prospects. For the first time, John Suhr had full control over the entire manufacturing process. After completion, the guitars are still checked down to the smallest detail. Due to high demand, the small factory has now grown many times over.
Today the name Suhr Guitars from Lake Elsinore, California not only stands for top-class pickup and guitar amps, but above all for custom shop electric guitars and basses that not only score with the highest quality workmanship, the best woods and sound , but above all in design. The professional artists have also remained loyal to Suhr and so, in addition to the standard lines, there are also numerous signature instruments, including those from Andre Nieri, Andy Wood, Mateus Asato and of course Pete Thorn.
