Since its introduction in 1976, the Music Man StingRay model series has established itself as a size in the world of bass guitars. No wonder, since the "Stingrays" were one of the first active basses ever and thus enabled unprecedented tonal flexibility. Incidentally, the basses were designed by Mr. Leo Fender himself, who co-founded the Music Man company in the early 1970s after selling his company Fender to CBS. To this day, the StingRays are considered real all-round talents that offer great sound and fantastic workmanship. In addition to the Music Man basses made in the USA, there has also been a version called Sterling by Music Man for a few years now, which allows a cheaper entry into the world of StingRays. Legendary bassists like Flea, Tim Commerford and John Deacon certainly didn't choose Music Man for nothing.
