The Maton SRS808 features solid Blackwood back and sides with a spruce top. The SRS808 is an absolutely beautiful small-bodied guitar, combining the warm, full tones of Blackwood with the clarity of a spruce top.
A forward-shifted X-bracing and the relocation of the scalloping points to specific nodes around the top help to enhance the top's vibration. The shift of the X-bracing also allowed for the addition of a second, parallel beam that distributes the wood's load evenly while reducing the guitar's overall mass.
The new 808 series sounds much bigger than a small-bodied guitar should.
The result of this development is a guitar that astonishes the player on the first strike and continues to impress as you play, with every aspect of the instrument's tone meeting and exceeding the player's expectations.

The guitars of the Maton SRS series feature a Grade A Sitka spruce top with back and sides in Tasmanian Blackwood. Blackwood belongs to the acacia family and is therefore a close relative of the famous Hawaiian Koa. In some cases it also displays a beautiful figuring similar to its Hawaiian cousin. The Maton-designed AP5 Pro pickup and preamp system ensures a perfect sound even on stage.
From a small backyard workshop in 1946, Maton Guitars has developed into a truly great Australian success story. Maton currently employs around 70 people and is still 100% family-owned and -run.
