Die AM wurde von Ibanez zum ersten Mal in den frühen 80er Jahren herausgebracht. Obwohl sie kleiner als andere Semi-Hollow-Bodies ist, bietet diese Gitarre einen warmen, druckvollen Klang und reichlich Sustain. Sie bietet den zusätzlichen Vorteil, dass sie so kompakt ist, dass sich Spieler, die eher an Solid-Body E-Gitarren gewöhnt sind, auf diesem beliebten Artcore Modell wie zu Hause fühlen werden.
Die parallele Entwicklung von Jazzmusik und der Hollowbody E-Gitarre sind untrennbar verbunden und manifestieren sich in der hochklassigen Artstar Serie. Die Einflüsse dieser legendären Instrumente sind sofort ersichtlich an Spezifikationen wie dem Knochensattel, einem Ebenholz Griffbrett und an den legendären Ibanez Super 58 Custom Pickups. Das kritische Auge wird die Liebe zum Detail bei diesem Instrument zu schätzen wissen, wie das angenehm zu bespielende Griffbrett, sowie die hervorragend gearbeiteten Bünde. Die AMH100FM kommt mit einem dreiteiligen Nyatoh/Ahorn Hals, einem Macassar Ebenholz Griffbrett, einer geflammten Ahorndecke und Ahorn Zargen & Boden. Außerdem ist die Gitarre mit Super 58 Tonabnehmern, einem Gibraltar Artist Steg und einem VT06 Saitenhalter ausgestattet.
