A Gibson legend
The striking Hummingbird was Gibson's first square-shoulder dreadnought and for decades has been the first choice of professionals and music legends across all genres and, of course, many ambitious hobbyists. Now the Gibson Acoustic Custom Shop in Montana presents a reinterpretation of the world-famous classic with the Gibson Hummingbird Custom in a black high-gloss finish. Alongside the classic vintage features of this world-renowned guitar, such as the characteristic Hummingbird pickguard, attention was paid to a modern yet timeless design.
The modern version of a classic
The classic Hummingbird features favoured by players are of course all present, including a Sitka spruce top, a mahogany body and a mahogany neck with a slim Slim Taper profile and a scale length of 24.75". Naturally the characteristic pickguard is also present. Aesthetically the Hummingbird Custom goes even further with a Les Paul Custom-inspired design, featuring a nitrocellulose finish in Gibson's signature Ebony, a multi-layer binding on the top and back, Les Paul-style tuner buttons with a custom split-diamond mother-of-pearl inlay, an ebony fretboard with custom mother-of-pearl block inlays and white binding, as well as gold-plated Grover Rotomatic tuners.

Stage presence is also taken care of: the Hummingbird Custom comes with an L.R. Baggs Session VTC preamp and pickup, which makes playing through an amp a very special experience.
A hard-shell case included with the guitar protects this exquisite instrument on its next tour.

The Gibson Hummingbird is one of the most popular acoustic guitars of the modern era. Gibson has been producing the guitar with a squared-shoulder dreadnought body for over 60 years. Thanks to the construction / acoustic of solid tonewoods and the wafer-thin lacquer, the guitar impresses with a warm and full sound that can fill entire arenas thanks to the built-in pickup system. Since the Hummingbird was introduced in 1960, the guitar has made a name for itself in all genres of music and is still used frequently today. As we know from Gibson , the Hummingbird guitars are available in different configurations. From the Studio with a body and sides made of mahogany or rosewood and a pickup system from Fishman, to the Standard series with a body and sides made of mahogany and a pickup from LR Braggs, to the Original or Exclusive models, which are the top of the Hummingbird form a series .

Die US-amerikanische Gibson Guitar Corporation, gegründet 1902 von Orville Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, wurde zu Beginn bekannt durch die Fertigung von Mandolinen und Banjos. Heutzutage befindet sich der Hauptsitz der Firma in Nashville, Tennessee und Gibson zählt zu den weltweit namhaftesten und renommiertesten Herstellern von E-Gitarren.
Das Modell Les Paul, benannt nach seinem Erschaffer Lester William Polsfuss, ist eine der bekanntesten und meistverkauften E-Gitarrenformen aller Zeiten und begründete die Bauform der Single Cut-Gitarre, die von zahlreichen anderen Herstellern kopiert, übernommen und neuinterpretiert wurde. Die Les Paul wird hauptsächlich für ihren als warm und druckvoll charakterisierten Sound geschätzt. Auch der dafür mitverantwortliche Humbucker-Tonabnehmer, in seiner heute geläufigen Bauweise, wurde von Seth Lover bei Gibson entwickelt.
Anfang der 1960er Jahre erschien mit der Gibson SG eine weitere Solidbody E-Gitarre aus dem Hause Gibson. Zunächst als Nachfolger der Les Paul gedacht, wurde sie, auch dank Angus Young von AC/DC, zu einer weiteren Ikonen der Rock-Geschichte und ist die Grundlage für den Typ der Double Cut-Gitarre.
Mit der Flying V und der Explorer zeichnet sich Gibson für zwei Korpusformen verantwortlich, die zwar zum Zeitpunkt ihres Erscheinens, Ende der 1950er Jahre, ihrer Zeit viel zu weit voraus waren, aber im Laufe der Jahre ebenfalls Legendenstatus erreichten. Bis heute dienen sie auch als Grundlage für eine Vielzahl von Heavygitarren, beispielsweise von Herstellern wie Jackson oder ESP.
Der Gibson Custom Shop fertigt Auftragsarbeiten, hochwertige Einzelstücke und exakte Replikate berühmter Modelle und legendärer Jahrgänge ihrer Instrumente an. Oft werden diese auch einem künstlichen Alterungsprozess, genannt Relicing, unterzogen.
Fast genauso lange wie das Unternehmen existiert, werden auch Akustikgitarren produziert. So zählen die J-45, die Hummingbird, die L-00 und die SJ-200 zu den beliebtesten Westerngitarren der Welt und waren das Instrument der Wahl für Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley oder John Lennon.
