In 1954, after a long development period, the Fender Stratocaster was finally launched on the market. The instrument looked like no guitar before it: The body appeared curvier and more flowing than that of the Telecaster and was intended to increase playing comfort, the new headstock was somewhat reminiscent of the old Bigsby headstocks, the jack socket was elegantly recessed in the side of the body instead of on the top and the Strat was equipped with three single-coil pickups. The guitar consisted of an ash body and a bolt-on maple neck and was initially only available with a 2-colour sunburst or white blonde finish. In the beginning, however, it was not a big seller, but gradually the Strat became more and more popular and became an integral part of music history.
Initially, the Stratocaster was only available in the two colours mentioned above, but from 1957 the first Custom Colours were introduced, which allowed customers to order a more colourful guitar for an extra charge. In 1959, the Strat, together with the Telecaster, was given a facelift: The bodies were now made of alder wood and the maple necks were fitted with rosewood fingerboards, which provided a warmer overall sound. New colours were also added to the existing custom colours.
The Fender Custom Shop has set itself the task of studying the high-quality vintage Stratocasters of yesteryear and reproducing them down to the smallest detail. Here we have a very special Custom Shop one-off for you, modelled on a Stratocaster from Fender's heyday:
The Fender Vintage Custom 59 Hardtail Stratocaster FASB is a classic ST-style electric guitar with a two-piece alder body. Alder wood was already used in the original Stratocaster guitars since the end of the 1950s and provides the basis for the perfect vintage sound. The body wood was selected by hand to ensure a particularly light weight and thus improve playing comfort. The aged maple neck with a rosewood fretboard features a 1959 "D" profile and a compound fretboard radius of 7,25" - 9,5", which offers the perfect compromise between vintage feel and modern comfort and makes it easier for the left hand to grip. The guitar is equipped with a classic S-S-S pickup combination of three Fender Custom Shop Handwound '59 Strat single coils. Other features include Fender Vintage style tuners, Parchment Soft-Touch Knobs, a Fender Vintage-Style Strat Hardtail Bridge and a 3-ply mint green pickguard.
The Fender Vintage Custom 59 Hardtail Stratocaster FASB comes with a certificate of authenticity in a luxurious original Fender Custom Shop Brown Tolex case with orange interior, allowing you to safely transport your new dream guitar and protect it from external influences.
