Practicality and functionality ruled at Fender, especially in the early years. With the Telecaster, or Tele for short, Fender produced a guitar that was reduced to the essential functions, could be assembled quickly and easily from several parts and was therefore easy to repair. This meant that the guitars could be offered at a comparatively affordable price.
Fender's production methods made it possible to manufacture the instruments simply while maintaining the same quality, but also to produce a different sound. The clear, long decaying sounds of the Telecaster clearly set it apart from the fat Gibson style jazz sound. The Fender Custom Shop has set itself the task of studying the high-quality vintage Telecasters of that time and reproducing them down to the smallest detail. From time to time, the Fender Custom Shop also ventures into completely new territory and combines materials and manufacturing features from very different eras to create completely unique, exciting instruments. Here we have a very special Custom Shop one-off for you that combines the features of many different Telecasters.
The Fender LTD Custom Shop Caballo Tono Ligero Relic AMGS is a modern T-style electric guitar with a semi-hollow body made of ash. Ash wood was already used in the original Telecaster guitars and provides the basis for the perfect vintage sound. The body wood was selected by hand to ensure a particularly light weight and thus improve playing comfort. The aged AAA flamed maple neck with maple fingerboard is not only a real eye-catcher, but also offers the perfect compromise between vintage feel and modern comfort with a 10/56 ‘V’ profile in the style of the 50s and a fingerboard radius of 9.5’. The guitar is equipped with an unusual H-H pickup combination of two TV Jones Classic humbuckers. Other features include Fender Modern Locking tuners, chrome-look Dome Speed Knobs, a Fender 3-Saddle Vintage-Style Strings Through Body Tele bridge with compensated steel saddles and a single-ply, white Caballo Tono pickguard.
This model is finished in a stunning, dazzling Aged Magenta Sparkle. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish ensures that the wood can vibrate particularly well and that the lacquer finish ages more beautifully. The guitar is beautifully dinged, dented and even a little scratched. One of the most attractive features of this Relic stage is the worn neck. You'll feel the raw wood under your hand, giving you the comfort of your favourite pair of worn-in sneakers. As soon as you pick up a Relic, you'll feel like you've been playing it for years.
