Introducing: Your dream instrument from Fender
All the info to help you decide
As early as 1950 Fender began developing the new guitar that would later be called the Stratocaster. After consultations with some well-known guitarists, including Western-swing musician Bill Carson and entertainer Rex Galleon, for whom Leo Fender wanted to build the perfect guitar, the design for the Stratocaster took shape. It was to have three pickups, a more comfortable, ergonomically shaped body and, moreover, a completely new feature: the vibrato.
In 1954 the Fender Stratocaster finally came to market. The instrument looked like no guitar before it: the body was curvier and more flowing than that of the Telecaster and was intended to increase playing comfort, the new headstock recalled the old Bigsby headstocks to some extent, the jack socket was elegantly recessed into the side of the body instead of on the top, and the Strat was equipped with three single-coil pickups. The Fender Custom Shop has made it its mission to study the high-quality vintage Stratocasters of that era and reproduce them down to the smallest detail. Here we have a very special Custom Shop one-off inspired by a 1950s Stratocaster:
The Fender LTD Custom Shop 1957 Stratocaster HT JRN India Ivory is a classic ST-style electric guitar with a two-piece ash body. Ash was already used in the original Stratocasters and provides the basis for the perfect vintage tone. The body wood was hand-selected to ensure particularly light weight and thus improved playing comfort. The aged AA flame maple neck with a maple fretboard is shaped in a 57-style Soft 'V' back-shape profile and has a 9.5" fretboard radius, offering the perfect compromise between vintage feel and modern comfort. The guitar is equipped with a classic S-S-S pickup combination of three Fender hand-wound '57 single coils. Further features include Fender Vintage Style tuners, parchment soft-touch knobs, a Fender 6-saddle strings-through-body hardtail bridge and a white, single-ply pickguard.
This model is finished in a classic India Ivory. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish allows the wood to vibrate particularly well and lets the finish age more attractively. It's about the look and the feel of a guitar that has been loved and played. If you play your instrument often, it's an easy truth that your guitar will eventually show signs of wear. Even players who treat their instruments very carefully can suffer the odd fall from a stand, wandering hands of others or even a mysteriously appearing ding. Each of those marks gives the guitar character. And that's what you get with the Journeyman Relic Level from Fender Custom Shop: a well-looked-after instrument that has been played, loved and used.
The Fender LTD Custom Shop 1957 Stratocaster HT JRN India Ivory is delivered with a certificate of authenticity in a luxurious original Fender Custom Shop case with tweed covering and wine-red interior lining, which lets you safely transport your new dream guitar and protect it from external influences.
