The Joe Strummer Telecaster in detail

As the frontman and main songwriter of the punk legends The Clash, Joe Strummer created his own genre. With loud, unconventional up-tempo punk, the band earned a permanent place in rock'n'roll history. The music was heavily influenced by Strummer's rebellious personality - which fit well with the explosive political climate of the time.

About Joe Strummer

Joe Strummer was born the son of a British diplomat. When he was still at school he had promised a friend that he would become a pop star. When he finished school, he initially went to several art colleges to study graphic design. But music took up more and more of his time, so he soon gave up his design studies and returned to London. There he founded the rock band The 101ers , which he left after just one release to switch to the unknown punk band London SS , which from then on called itself The Clash and became famous under this name. Strummer sang and played his Fender Telecaster there, which, in combination with Mick Jones' special guitar riffs, produced some important punk tracks and, with London Calling, one of the most successful albums in history. After The Clash resolution, Strummer released his first solo LP Earthquake Weather in 1989, and in 1995 he accompanied British Celtic folk punkers The Levellers on piano on their UK Top 12 single Just The One . After a long break, his next solo album Rock Art And The X-Ray Style was released in 1999, and in 2001 he released another and final album.

A real punk board

The Joe Strummer Telecaster is of course modeled on his beloved Tele. So that the Joe Strummer Telecaster comes as close as possible to the vibe of Joe's rocked '66 model , Fender has refined the alder body with a road worn lacquer finish. The Telecaster also has a maple neck in a “Mid-60s C” profile, a rosewood fretboard with a 7.25” radius and specially tuned Joe Strummer Telecaster pickups to reproduce Joe’s sound as precisely as possible. Other era-typical details: The Vintage -style Telecaster bridge with six string saddles, a historically correct 3-ply pickguard, Vintage style tuner and custom neck plate with Joe Strummer's logo. The hardware was also treated with the Fender Road Worn finish and completes the used look.

Rough look, rough sound
