Breedlove was founded in Bend, Oregon in the early 1990s by former Taylor Guitars employees Larry Breedlove and Steve Henderson. In 1994, Larry's brother Kim Breedlove joined the company and used his experience as a banjo builder to drive innovation at Breedlove .
These innovations can be found in the selection of materials, the construction / acoustic of various components of the guitars or the experimentation with body shapes. For optimal sound, the Made-in-Bend models go through the "sound Optimization" process, in which experienced instrument makers process the wood in minimal steps until the guitars resonate in the best possible way at the optimal frequencies.
The starting model for all Breedlove guitars is the Concert. The jumbo version Concerto, the shortscale version Concertino, and the newest family member, the “Travel Guitar” Companion, are based on this. When it comes to materials, Breedlove is particularly proud of its pioneering work in using Myrtlewood, which offers excellent properties as a tonewood and comes directly from the Oregon area.
You can find out more about the individual models on the respective product detail pages.
