Breedlove was founded in the early 1990s by former Taylor Guitars employees Larry Breedlove and Steve Henderson in Bend, Oregon. In 1994 Larry's brother Kim Breedlove joined the company and, with his experience as a banjo builder, drove Breedlove's innovations forward.
These innovations are reflected in the choice of materials, the construction of various guitar components and experimentation with body shapes. For optimal sound the Made-in-Bend models undergo the "Sound Optimization" process, in which experienced luthiers work the wood in minimal steps until the guitars resonate as best as possible at the optimal frequencies.
The base model for all Breedlove guitars is the Concert. From this come the jumbo variant Concerto, the short-scale version Concertino, and the newest family member, the "travel guitar" Companion. Regarding materials, Breedlove is particularly proud of its pioneering use of myrtlewood, which offers excellent tonal properties and comes from the local area in Oregon.
On the individual product detail pages you'll find more information about each model.
