Assembling a saxophone
Anyone who opens their saxophone case for the first time will quickly realize that they don't find a complete instrument . A saxophone consists of several individual parts. We would like to briefly and succinctly explain to you what these are and how they belong together.
First we have the shimmering body with all its keys. The saxophone neck is inserted into the so-called “heart” and secured with a small screw. The saxophone neck, in turn, is the curved, upper part of the instrument on which the mouthpiece is attached to the cork-covered end. If the mouthpiece is difficult to slide on during mounting , we recommend greasing the cork casing with a cork stick. This small care instruction significantly extends the life of the cork layer.

A small screw with a big impact
However, in order to produce the typical saxophone sound, we need two more components. We're talking about the leaf screw and the blade . The leaf screw holds together what belongs together. It fixes the blade to the mouthpiece using small screws. Before playing, it is advisable to moisten the reed with a little saliva before blowing it causes the reed's vibration to cause the air column inside the instrument to oscillate.
