Now it's all happening - sounds in an endless loop!

You can find out everything you need to know about looper pedals and how they work here.

To give you an initial overview and a quick introduction to the theme of looper pedals , our expert Robin will demonstrate to you how easy it is to use a looper and achieve professional results with just a few simple steps and a manageable amount of equipment.

Live Looping – Level 1

In the first episode of our live looping series , Robin shows you how he uses his looper pedal live. He enriches his loop performance with additional solos and vocal tracks. It can be that simple sometimes.

What is a loop?

First we clarify the question of what actually lies behind a loop. Basically, a loop is a description for unchanged and repeating sequences . These sequences can consist of drum and percussion elements, accompanying rhythms, basslines, melodic sequences but also vocal recordings of any kind. As always, there are no limits to your imagination and are only limited by your own creativity.

Current pop and dance music proves to us every day that we are far from having reached our peak with these “repeating sequences” . The loop music genre is on the move and constantly evolving. We owe this advancement not least to artists like Ed Sheeran, Jamie Woon and Reggie Watts (to name just a few well-known names).

How does a looper pedal work?

A looper pedal combines basic recording program/sequencer functions in a compact device. Recordings can be added track by track and layered on top of each other. In professional circles this is called overdubs. In most cases, looper pedals are operated with the foot , but the pedals are also increasingly found in modern keyboard and synthesizer setups, where the pedal is placed on the rim of the device on the surface of the housing and is operated with the palm of the hand becomes. Depending on the features of the looper, song structures can be layered and controlled piece by piece by pressing the pedal and/or provided with numerous effects. You can then improvise using these arrangements or, if you don't have your own band, practice and develop your solos. Larger devices often have a variety of inputs and outputs, which means that a wide variety of instruments, microphones and effects can be connected simultaneously and, depending on the musician's skill, played in or fed through.
