Who is Susan Tedeschi?

Susan Tedeschi was born on 9 November 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts and is a multi-Grammy-winning American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. She comes from a musical family. Since music was in her cradle, she formed her first band at the age of 13, The Smoking Section. Because she was already very interested in the Boston blues scene and blues music in general at an early age, after school she attended the famous Berklee College of Music, the same college that John Mayer also attended.

You don't play the blues with your hands, but with your soul. Susan masters this art brilliantly. Susan's extraordinary voice is often described as a mixture of Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin; both singers are among Susan's biggest idols.

In 1994 she founded the Susan Tedeschi Band, whose second album Just Won’t Burn was received with great enthusiasm and brought her first commercial success. The band went on a US tour and performed with John Mellencamp, B.B. King, Bob Dylan, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal and the Allman Brothers Band, among others. In 2001 Susan married guitarist Derek Trucks, who is also successful in the blues world. Becoming a mother twice and family life initially led her to step back from the stage; during that time she concentrated mainly on studio recordings.
In 2010 Susan and Derek decided to form a band together. After a successful tour, the first album of the Tedeschi Trucks Band was released in 2011.

The album called Revelator was internationally successful and reached No. 1 on the US blues charts as well as other official chart positions, for example in New Zealand and Germany. In 2012 it won a Grammy in the category Best Blues Album. In August 2013 the band's third album Made Up Mind was released, and the band received two Blues Music Awards in 2014. Susan Tedeschi also received the award for Best Blues Singer. To date the family band has released eleven albums.
