Cleaning and Care of Saxophones
The session guide for beginners
To enjoy your saxophone for as long as possible, it's recommended to clean the instrument regularly and have it checked by a professional from time to time.
For cleaning, it's best to disassemble your saxophone after every playing session. That way you can best remove the residual moisture that collects inside the instrument with special swabs for the mouthpiece, body and S-bend. To do this, simply pull the appropriate swabs several times through the mouthpiece, body and S-bend.
Wide selection
From pick to amp, from stick to kit: we're your one-stop shop for everything you need!
That keeps things running smoothly
To make it easier to fit the mouthpiece onto the cork covering of the S-bend and to protect that cork, it's recommended to use cork grease when needed.
What can you do about dirty pads?
The deposits on the pads that lead to unwanted “smacking” are best removed regularly with so-called cleaning paper. Simply place the paper between the key and the tone hole and close the key several times. These simple cleaning tips greatly extend the longevity of the saxophone. You can find a selection of pull-through swabs, cork grease and cleaning paper here.
On-site service
From time to time it's also advisable to have the keys readjusted by a professional. We offer a professional inspection of the instrument and the corresponding service on-site in our wind instrument workshops.
