Recording Electric Guitars
Microphones, DIs & Power Attenuators
It's well known that Olli loves valve amplifiers (and especially his Marshall). The same goes for many, if not most, guitarists. Even though there are now many outstanding modelling amps and plugins or good-sounding analogue solutions, many still swear by the sound of their valve amp when practising at home or recording guitars. To control the massive volume of the amplifiers — often necessary to push them into saturation — and to be able to record at night with full valve tone, there are so-called Power Soaks or Power Attenuators. These not only reduce the volume, but can in some cases also be connected as the necessary load, allowing you to record without a speaker cabinet and thus completely silently.
