Stage pianos for beginners
If you're often on the move from A to B with your weighted 88 keys and already find a compact digital piano too bulky, a stage piano is the right choice. If you take a look around, you'll quickly notice that wood finishes and high‑gloss lacquer are as absent from the checklist as built‑in speaker systems. Instead, beginners and pros alike should make sure their stage piano is both as light and portable as possible and built to be robust and durable. Things can get a bit rough in the hectic life on stage. A few scratches are to be expected. Beginners should also expect a wide selection of different sounds and presets. Common stage pianos like the Kawai MP-7 SE and the Korg SV-1 88 already offer various grand piano sounds and a versatile electric piano selection (Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer piano, etc.), organ sounds (Hammond) as well as a number of synth and string tones. The built-in effects palette (phaser, flanger, rotary speaker and various amp models) rounds off the tonal options. Pitch and modulation wheels, as well as the practical split and layer functions, are also part of the entry-level price range between €1,300 and €1,500.
