The heart of the Arius series is the sound of the renowned Yamaha CFX concert grand. Extensive sampling creates a detailed and balanced piano sound with brilliant highs, clear mids and a powerful bass foundation. The 192-note polyphony ensures natural sound development even in complex passages.
For additional authenticity, the Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite) technology simulates the complex resonances of an acoustic piano. It takes into account the interactions between strings, soundboard and pedals, resulting in a lively and dynamic sound.

A convincing digital piano not only has to sound good, it must also feel right. That’s why Yamaha uses weighted hammer actions in the Arius models to realistically reproduce the touch of an acoustic piano.
Different keyboard systems are used depending on the model. The entry-level models feature the proven GHS keyboard (Graded Hammer Standard), while the higher-end models are equipped with the GrandTouch-E keyboard. Both systems convey the characteristic difference between the heavier bass registers and the lighter treble, enabling precise control over dynamics and expression.

All current Arius models come with Bluetooth Audio and Bluetooth MIDI. This lets you connect smartphones, tablets and computers wirelessly to play music or work with learning and practice apps. In combination with the Yamaha Smart Pianist app, daily practice becomes even more convenient.
GrandTouch-E keyboard in the top models
The YDP-166 and YDP-S56 models feature the high-quality GrandTouch-E keyboard with synthetic ebony and ivory surfaces as well as escapement simulation. The result is an exceptionally precise and natural playing feel with great control over dynamics and expression.
Even more authentic resonances with VRM Lite
The current generation uses the enhanced VRM Lite technology to reproduce the resonances of an acoustic piano even more realistically. This makes both individual notes and complex chords sound more lively and expressive.
