Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator Modular series

Attention hobbyists!

Good news for all sound and beat hobbyists! With the brand new DIY kits PO Modular 16, 170 and 400, Teenage Engineering is not only expanding its popular Pocket Operator series with a plug-in-friendly modular series , but is actually letting you become a hobby mechanic. That's right, it's time to go to the workbench! Before you can get the first crazy sounds out of the modular systems, you have to screw the minimalist enclosure together and connect the different modules to each other. But don't worry, illustrated step-by-step instructions for assembly are of course included in the clever cardboard packaging and so nothing stands in the way of modular fun - even for beginners!

Simply bend, assemble and start patching!

The DIY assembly kits give you a very simple, almost playful introduction to the world of modular synthesis . Once set up, you can start straight away because the DIY kits already have everything you need to get started.

We would like to start with the Pocket Operator Modular 16. Behind it is a classic sequencer with a simple touch keyboard for input and programming. The 16 keys can be tuned individually, which leads to crazy sound creations in the workflow.

Full-blown, monophonic & analogue!

With the two Pocket Operator Kits Modular 170 and Modular 400 you get full-fledged monophonic analog synthesizers at your fingertips. The operation is very intuitive and invites you to experiment . The different modules can be connected and connected in series using the included patch cables. When researching and putting together new sound worlds, the Modular 170 and Modular 400 are in no way inferior to their usually much larger and competing control cabinets.

There's a lot under the hood!

The Pocket Operator Modular 170 from Teenage Engineering has a total of 9 modules waiting to be linked together. Available are, among other things, 1 oscillator (square waveform), 1 low-pass filter, 1 ADSR envelope, 1 VCA, LFO, loudspeaker box, as well as a built-in and programmable sequencer with keyboard (PO-Modular 16).

The biggest candidate from Teenage Engineering 's Modular series is the Pocket Operator Modular 400 . It combines 16 modules under its yellow enclosure. Once set up, 3 oscillators, noise random generator, 2 ADSR envelopes, 2 VCAs, LFO, filter, a programmable 16-step sequencer, mixer and an integrated loudspeaker are waiting to be connected together!

The including of the two analog synthesizers each includes a patch cable set and the battery pack, which must be fed with 8 AA batteries.

From hobby mechanic to sound researcher!

If you want to put together your own little modular system before patching, then the new modular Pocket Operator DIY kits from Teenage Engineering are just the thing for you! You can now buy these from us, assemble them and start patching them!
