Tama new products 2024

The Tama company has opened its doors to the holy halls in Gutenstetten for us to inspect and try out their new products for 2024 . Daniel, head of the Walldorf drum department, grabbed the most important news and discussed it for you.

Tama BB-156 - Mastercraft "The bell Brass" snare 14"x6.5"

In 1980 the Tama Mastercraft bell Brass snare was born. Designed to meet the groundbreaking sounds of a new musical decade, the bell Brass delivered the purest snare sound ever achieved . Particularly in heavy rock music of the 80s and 90s, Tama's bell Brass snare gained a reputation as "THE TERMINATOR" . With its powerful sound, it was application not only in the heavy rock scene, but also in the hands of leading jazz and Fusion drummers worldwide.

Almost half a century later and just in time for the company's 50th anniversary, the Tama Mastercraft "The bell Brass" 50th Anniversary Reissue pays tribute to this legendary sound . The snare features a special alloy of copper and tin, formed into a robust 3mm thick shell . This extremely heavy bell Brass shell not only produces impressive volume, but also an outstanding tonal range.

The Mastercraft "The bell Brass" 50th Anniversary Reissue has been reproduced with the utmost fidelity to the original specifications as much as modern technology allows, and will be found as a regular model in the Tama catalog for the future.

Tama Mastercraft Limited Series
Rosewood snare drums

Also new and from the Mastercraft series, Tama is presenting us with a few strictly limited edition snare drums on our tour to mark the company's 50th anniversary. Included are the RW-256 and RW-255 drums, which are made entirely of rosewood. In the 1980s, Tama brought the Mastercraft Rosewood snare, the first and only drum of its kind, onto the market. Rosewood, as a hard and dense material, is typically used for guitar fingerboards and at the time was only used as a single outer layer of veneer on drums. Now the shell are made entirely of rosewood . Both snare models completely impressed us with their clear sound and dark tone.

Tama Limited Artwood Snare Drums

We are also convinced by the snare drums AW-456 and AW-455 . Since their release in 1980, Mastercraft Artwood snare fans have eagerly awaited a reissue of these iconic snare drums. Both models are characterized by their impressive appearance, with a beautifully stained, multi-piece center wood inlay. The 9mm thick , 6-ply birch wood shell delivers a distinctive sound in the deep midrange and clear projection. But that's not all, the drums feature Tama's unique roller action strainer for a detailed and sensitive snare response. This innovative snare wire design utilizes a single on/off lever and dual guide rollers for easy and versatile adjustment. Daniel shows you how the whole thing works in our video article.

Tama 8056 - 50th LIMITED Mastercraft Steel measurements sd (set) 14"x6.5"

The innovations in the Tama Mastercraft series are rounded off by the also strictly limited 14" x 6.5" steel snare called: 8056. We learn that the 8056 snare is particularly popular with Vintage due to the classic chrome surface with its grooved center lines -drum lovers. The 1.2mm thick steel shell and the die-cast tires are responsible for the clear attack and crisp resonance. As well as the 20 snare wires across the entire finish. Even though it is a new edition, the DNA of the snare clearly sounds like the 1980s.
