Mr. Muff – muffins

Damping rings for Vintage drum sound!

An essential element of the Mr. Muff product range are the “muffins” . These dampening rings are specifically designed for snare drums , toms and cymbals and offer a practical alternative to traditional methods such as using tea towels or cotton cloths.

The muffins are made from a wool felt ring combined with a 100% cotton cloth and are sized to fit all standard drum sizes. A special advantage of the muffins is that they can be stacked inside each other to achieve a greater cushioning effect . Additionally, the 10-inch muffin can also be used to mute cymbals and hi-hats because it has a cutout in the middle.

From “MuffHead” to Mr. Muff

All products are made by hand at the Rohema Percussion factory in Germany. Thanks to the expertise in the production of drumsticks and professional mallets, it is easy for Rohema to take over the production of Thorsten Reeß's innovative Mr. Muff products in its in-house sewing department . Inventor Thorsten Reeß , himself a drummer, was looking for a way to quickly change his bass drum or tom sound while playing live. Since he couldn't find what he was looking for anywhere, he started tinkering around himself. In 2014 he developed the BassMuff cover for the bass drum clapper, which at the time still had the funny name “MuffHead” . Over time, MiniMuff and finally muffins were added.
