In the late 1960s, Randall Smith , one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most famous amplifier repairers, was inspired to build his own amplifier after learning to appreciate the tweed circuits of the '50s . He loved their organic sound, the effective controls , and the way the sound changed smoothly from clean to distortion and back again when the gain control was turned. Smith's first foray into boutique guitar amplification resulted in a new Mesa/Boogie amp design inspired by these wonderful, timeless-sounding amps . Building on these 50 years of experience, Mesa/Boogie now presents an exciting new world of tweed-based sounds and authentic 6V6 character. A wonderfully simple design that raises the bar in the world of Vintage sounds once again: the new California Tweed series .

Everything about the Mesa/Boogie California Tweed series
The California Tweed series is what is often referred to as “Vintage Expanded” . The look and construction / acoustic are clearly Vintage-inspired, and the sound also delivers a touch of 50s vibes . However, if you look at the features and functions of the California Tweed amps, you will quickly notice that these amplifier do not come from the last century. The new California Tweed series features the most modern technology from Mesa/Boogie , which we would like to introduce to you here.
Vintage features at their finest
When it comes to Vintage sound and feel at low power , no amp offers more features than the Mesa/Boogie California Tweed models. The California Tweed amplifier are powered by 6V6 power amp valves , while the preamp is equipped with a combination of 12AX7 and 12AT7 tubes. All amplifier in this series have a single channel . The legendary Vintage all-tube spring reverb effect with the option of connecting an external footswitch to control the reverb and a fully buffered, serial effects loop round off the equipment , which offers everything you need for the perfect sound .
Versatility thanks to patented Mesa/Boogie technology
The Mesa/Boogie California Tweed models are by no means “one trick ponies”: The integrated Mesa/Boogies Incremental Multi-Watt™ amplifier with Duo-Class™ and Dyna-Watt™ technology offers you up to five power levels, up to three operating classes ( triode, pentode or cathode) and multiple wiring options from a single knobs! - The patented Multi-Watt™ Power Amp provides you with the sounds of multiple power levels, style modes and circuits in one amplifier
- The Dyna-Watt™ technology is controlled by your touch or picking technique and automatically sets a dynamic accent when you play harder
High quality components
The Mesa/Boogie California Tweed Amps are available as either a head or combo and can deliver up to 40 watts of power . The combos feature high-quality Jensen Blackbird Alnico 40 loudspeaker . The Vintage-style enclosure are made of particularly light marine-quality birch plywood , which makes the California Tweed amps the perfect companions on tour. The top parts are ideal for combination with the speaker boxes from the Mesa/Boogie Boogie Cabinet series . All Mesa/Boogie California Tweed amplifier are manufactured in Petaluma, California. A suitable amp cover is including with every amplifier .
