The company Meinl is a family-run business founded in 1951 with its headquarters in Gutenstetten (D). Its portfolio includes the brands Meinl Cymbals, Meinl Stick & Brush, Meinl Percussion, Nino Percussion, Meinl Sonic Energy, Viva Rhythm, and Ortega Guitars.

As a manufacturer of cymbals, produced both by machine and by pure handcraft, Meinl operates its own factories in Germany and in Turkey.
