Meinl Cymbals New for 2024
The company Meinl Cymbals invited us again this year into their hallowed halls in Gutenstetten to inspect and try out the new releases for 2024. Daniel grabbed the cymbals and tested them for you. Of course we had our cameraman with us again, who skilfully captured the tour.
Meinl Cymbals Pure Alloy Extra Hammered Series
For 2024 Meinl Cymbals expands the Pure Alloy range with the name extension Extra Hammered. The new series in Medium-Thin weight is characterised by its machine-hammered surface, which immediately catches the eye. But of course it's primarily about the sound. The cymbals of the Pure Alloy Extra Hammered series open up easily and produce a sound that's as powerful as it is warm. The series is suitable for all styles. You can discover how the hammered cymbals sound in person.

Meinl Cymbals Pure Alloy
& Pure Alloy Soundwave Hi-Hats
The "standard" Pure Alloy line has also grown for 2024. The cymbals, especially popular with drummers for their bright and clear sonic character, have been joined by an 8" and 12" Splash as well as an 18" Trash-China. The splash cymbals impress with a quick, crispy response, and the trash-china shines thanks to its cut-outs on the surface with a fast attack and short sustain.
Also new are 16", 18" and 20" Thin-Crash as well as the 20" and 22" Thin-Ride. The very thin Thin-Rides are characterised by a clear stick attack over a warm tonal bed. When you "ancrash" them the result is a powerful accent with a long sustain, which makes them truly versatile and interesting cymbals.
Also new and worth mentioning are the two new 14" and 15" Hi-Hats from the Pure Alloy Soundwave range. Both hi-hats offer a quick, clear response followed by a pronounced "sizzle effect" in the wash. This is ideal for drummers who expect a clear definition from their hi-hats. The bottom cymbal prevents the airlock effect and provides a powerful foot-chick sound. The hi-hats are versatile and cut through the mix well.

Meinl Cymbals Byzance Foundry Reserve & Big Dark Apple
More highlights for 2024 from Meinl Cymbals are waiting for us in the Byzance Foundry Reserve and Big Dark Apple series. The hand-hammered Byzance Foundry Reserve series is completed with a 21" Flat-Ride and a 22" China-Ride. Both cymbals immediately impress with a complex sonic character you have to hear! Equally special in sound is the new Byzance Dark Big Apple Flat-Ride. The unlacquered finish and the absence of the bell give the lightweight a sharp definition wrapped in an earthy character. The slight curvature in the cymbal shape creates a wash and a hint of sizzle in the sound as well as a deep, airy response when "ancrashed".

Meinl Cymbals Complete Cymbal-Sets
& Crash-Packs
Also new are the many different Complete Cymbal-Sets and Crash-Packs. The sets are available in different series and configurations and are aimed particularly at beginners who don't yet feel like putting together a complete setup from individual cymbals, or at more advanced players who want to complete a standard or existing setup with special cymbals. All complete sets are fitted with hi-hat, crash and ride cymbals from the respective series. The crash-packs contain tonally matched crash cymbals. Which cymbal set or crash-pack is ultimately equipped with which cymbals and sizes you can find in detail on the respective product pages.
Meinl Cymbals Byzance Artist's Choice Cymbal-Sets
Another pretty cool new addition for 2024 are the many different Byzance Artist's Choice Cymbal-Sets. All sets in this series were assembled and curated by the Meinl Cymbals artists. The first line-up includes Benny Greb, Matt Halpern, Chris Coleman, Matt Garstka and Mike Johnston. All sets are equipped with hi-hats, crash and ride cymbals of the respective artists. Depending on the drummer, china and crash-ride cymbals in various sizes are often added. Which cymbal set is ultimately equipped with which cymbals and sizes you can find on the respective product pages in detail. We think the Artist's Choice series is a great way not only to get closer to the signature sound of your idol, but also to complete a standard drum set with special cymbals.
