Professional: The four editions
Inspired by Gretsch's golden age in the 1950s and early '60s, the guitars of the Vintage Select Edition are aimed at players who appreciate the best of instrument history. Vintage fans and collectors in particular enjoy these guitars, which stand out for their attention to detail. The most striking vintage details include aged bindings and inlays as well as thicker pickguards.
The instruments of the Players Edition were developed for professional use and offer the classic Gretsch sound and state-of-the-art features for maximum performance, comfort and versatility. Among other things, Schaller locking tuners and modern straplocks are used. Due to the shallower body depth and the resulting feedback reduction, the Players Edition instruments are excellent for the big stage.
The Gretsch Artist Signature Edition offers careful, faithful reproductions of instruments that capture the characteristic sound of the famous endorsed artists. In designing the instruments, care was taken to meet the pros' exact wishes. Many well-known artists such as Malcolm Young, George Harrison, Billy Gibbons and Brian Setzer have discovered Gretsch guitars and are proud owners of one or more signature instruments.
The models of the Limited Edition enhance Gretsch's most famous designs with eye-catching finishes as well as improved functions and appointments. These small-series models, breathtaking in style and tone, are aimed at those seeking an individual character. In 2023 Gretsch celebrates 140 years of company history and launched new Limited models for the occasion.
Professional: Vintage specs
All instruments in the Professional Collection are, true to Gretsch form, excellently crafted and come with high-quality parts: the foundation for the “Great Gretsch Sound” is laid by the Gretsch Squeezebox capacitors installed in all the guitars of the collection. These provide the vintage sound that probably springs to mind for any guitarist the moment you hear the name “Gretsch”. In addition to Gretsch's own pickups, some models are also brought to life by T.V. Jones pickups.
Professional: Modern features
Only the finest woods are used; some models even feature striking figured tops made of flamed maple (Flamed Maple). Adjusto-Matic bridges combined with stop or trapeze tailpieces provide excellent intonation. On models with a “T” in the name you can also look forward to a licensed Bigsby vibrato, which gives the sound that extra something. The finishes are impressive too: from natural to metallic to exciting sparkle finishes, you'll definitely find the right stage look for every guitarist.
