Among the various Les Paul model years, 1959 is probably the most sought-after and also the most valuable year. That year saw extensive experimentation with different burst finishes that set them apart from the '58 run and were very intense in colour. The new colours were initially adopted only hesitantly and therefore fewer instruments were produced, which makes an original 1959 Les Paul Standard a rare and coveted collector's item.
We drew inspiration from these guitars and now present to you our Made To Measure series Les Paul 1959 VOS from the Gibson Custom Shop. Each instrument is a one-off made from carefully selected woods and components.
Our session Select 1959 models feature a beautiful Bourbon Burst VOS finish. VOS stands for 'Vintage Original Specs', which means the guitars are reproductions of historical original instruments that may look played-in to the eye, but are not aged.
