Gibson Falcon Amps
Comeback of a classic
The original Falcon GA-19RVT was a guitar amplifier from 1961. With the Falcon and several other models, Gibson brought amplifiers with reverb to market in the early 1960s — even before Fender. In addition, the Falcon also featured a tremolo.
Now the Falcon amplifiers are returning to the Gibson lineup. The Falcon 5 and the Falcon 20 take you back with their vintage sound and iconic look to the heyday of guitar-driven music, without sacrificing modern functionality.

The history of the Falcon amplifiers
The vintage Falcon delivered 14 watts from two 6V6 tubes and had a Jensen 12" speaker. The preamp was fed by three 6EU7 tubes and a 7199 for the reverb circuit. It also used a 5V3GT rectifier tube. Unlike later Fender reverb amplifiers, the Falcon had a rather unusual arrangement of the reverb circuit: instead of being placed after the preamp section and mixing the wet and dry signals, the Falcon's reverb circuit taps the signal before the volume and tone controls and mixes it with the dry signal via independent volume controls.
The new Falcon models
The new Falcon models are simple single-channel amplifiers that prioritise great tone and ease of use. The ultra-simple design features volume and tone controls plus additional reverb and tremolo effects that can be switched via footswitch and add more dimension and character to the sound, greatly increasing the enjoyment and usefulness of the amplifier across a wide range of musical styles.
Both new Falcon models are also fitted with 6V6 power tubes and Jensen Blackbird Alnico speakers, which come particularly close to the sound of the 60s originals. Both models are supplied with a cover, and the Falcon 20 also includes a vintage-style footswitch. The Gibson Falcon Amps are produced by Mesa/Boogie in Petaluma, California.
