Gibson Elvis Collection
Memphis sound in king size
The traditional company Gibson presents us with two new acoustic guitars in an Elvis collection , thereby expanding its Acoustic Artist program to include two real eye-catchers! Elvis Presley's two Artist models are a Gibson Elvis Dove and a Gibson Elvis SJ-200 with built-in LR Baggs VTC pickup systems.
The former is based on a custom-made Dove with a mahogany neck that Presley received as a gift from his Vater Vernon in 1969. He played it live regularly, including at the “Aloha From Hawaii” concert in 1973, which was lavishly broadcast via satellite. In 1975, the King gave the tried-and-tested instrument as a gift - sensationally in the middle of the performance to a not a little surprised audience member. The second guitar is based on an SJ-200, which was given to Elvis as a gift in the mid-1960s during recording sessions at the famous RCA Studio B in Nashville. This was also used during numerous live performances until Presley separated from this faithful companion in 1976 and bequeathed it to his friend and helper at Graceland, Marty Lacker.
