Gibson Elvis Collection
Memphis Sound in King-size
The renowned company Gibson presents two new acoustic guitars in an Elvis Collection, thereby expanding its Acoustic Artist programme with two real eye-catchers! The two artist models inspired by Elvis Presley are a Gibson Elvis Dove and a Gibson Elvis SJ-200, both fitted with built-in LR Baggs VTC pickup systems.
The first is based on a custom-made Dove with a mahogany neck that Presley received from his father Vernon in 1969. He played it regularly live, including at the lavishly satellite-broadcast concert “Aloha From Hawaii” in 1973. In 1975 the King then gave the trusted instrument away himself – spectacularly in the middle of a show to a rather surprised audience member. The second guitar is based on an SJ-200 that was given to him in the mid-1960s during recording sessions at the famous RCA Studio B in Nashville. This one was also used during numerous live appearances until Presley parted with this faithful companion in 1976, giving it to his friend and Graceland aide, Marty Lacker.

Elvis SJ-200 or Dove?
Both acoustic guitars feature backs and sides of solid maple combined with tops of equally solid Sitka spruce. The mother-of-pearl inlays on the iconic Mustache- and Dove bridge, the distinctive pickguards and the inlays on the rosewood fretboard immediately catch the eye. And as is fitting for two genuine guitars from the Rock'n'Roll era, each instrument comes with a padded Deluxe case.
