Gibson Custom Color series

For Gibson's Custom Color series , the traditional company is dipping models of its long-running Les Paul and SG in some exciting colors. The electric guitars with a solid mahogany body are made in the USA and come in a protective hardshell case .

Here we want to show you what the Les Paul Standard 50s and Standard 60s as well as the SG Standard and Standard '61 of this series have to offer. The main differences are the neck profiles, the tuning machines and the pickup configurations.

Les Paul Standard 50s Custom Color

The classic headstock with the distinctive Les Paul lettering features Vintage deluxe tuning machines with keystone buttons. It flows into a mahogany neck with a Vintage 50s shape and Graph Tech nut .

Typical trapezoid inlays adorn the rosewood fingerboard . The 50s models use Burstbucker 1 and Burstbucker 2 as pickup . Seen here on a plain top model in bright Pelham Blue.

The strings run over an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge at the bottom and are held in place by an aluminum stop bar . The pots, which are equipped with Orange drop capacitors, are controlled via classic gold top hat buttons. All maple tops on the Figured models are AA flamed , shown here in beautiful Honey Amber.

Les Paul Standard 60s Custom Color

The main difference between the headstock of the standard 60s models is the Grover Rotomatic tuner with kidney buttons used here. Here too it forms the end of a mahogany neck with a Graph Tech nut . Here, however, with a slim taper neck profile .

Unsurprisingly, but no less beautiful to look at, trapeze inlays are also emblazoned on a rosewood fretboard . The AA flamed maple top also adorns the Figured models of the 60s series. However, the sound is provided by 60s burstbuckers .

The proven ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and the aluminum stop bar keep the strings in check here too. The golden top hat buttons come with metal inlays. There are also potentiometers with Orange drop capacitors underneath.

SG Standard Custom Color

Grover Rotomatic tuning machines with nickel-colored kidney buttons do their job on the classic headstock with the SG logo. The headstock flows into a mahogany neck with a comfortable Rounded "C" profile and Graph Tech Tusq nut .

The neck with rosewood fretboard and acrylic trapezoid inlays is glued into a mahogany body . As a classic Gibson pickup combination, a pair of humbuckers consisting of 490T and 490R pickups ensure the perfect SG sound.

An aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge with an aluminum stop bar keeps the strings always in tuning. The black top hat controls on this model are black with a silver metal inlay. The potentiometers hidden underneath are equipped with the popular Orange drop capacitors .

Standard SG '61 Custom Color

The headstock here is also the well-known SG headstock, but the SG logo is missing and Vintage Deluxe tuning machines were used. The mahogany neck with Graph Tech Tusq nut has a slim taper profile and has been painted to match the body color .

The neck of the 61 model has a rosewood fretboard and acrylic trapezoid inlays and merges into a mahogany body . Here, however, a pair of Gibson 60s Burstbuckers is responsible for the sound , which fits the SG perfectly.

The proven ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and the aluminum stop bar keep the strings in check here too. The black top hat buttons also come with silver metal inlays. There are also potentiometers with Orange drop capacitors underneath.
