Cort Gold
With the Gold series Cort introduces a fully solid acoustic guitar range with thermally treated tops and bracing. Cort calls this process "Aged to Vintage", which emulates the top's ageing process over decades. The result is, right from the start, a wonderfully full, overtone-rich and balanced tone reminiscent of old, well‑played instruments. Another important element developed for the best possible sound is the "Doublelock Neckjoint". This improves vibration transfer by additionally bolting the neck to the body.

All about the Cort Gold series
Key features of the Cort Gold series
The guitars in the Cort Gold series were created from the attempt to combine modern playability and appointments with vintage tone. A vintage instrument is the holy grail of acoustic guitar tone. The wood of the top hardens and opens up more and more over time. That releases a tonal quality that is missing from new instruments — until now. With a special process Cort has dubbed ATV (Aged To Vintage), the solid Sitka spruce top is treated to give it the big, open tone of a decades‑old, highly sought-after acoustic guitar. This torrefaction process gives you this astonishing tone straight out of the box.
Expert knowledge: Aged to Vintage top and bracing
Using a special process called ATV (Aged To Vintage), the luthiers treat the solid Sitka spruce top and the bracing to achieve the big, open tone of a decades‑old, highly sought-after acoustic guitar. Torrefaction is a process in which spruce tops (before fitting into the guitar body) are roasted in ovens normally used to dry timber so it can be worked. Roasting gives the wood a slightly darker colour and subtly alters its structure, resulting in new tonal characteristics. In particular, torrefied spruce tops tend to sound warmer and sweeter, giving them a played‑in quality you would expect from much older wood. Torrefaction cannot fully reproduce the effects of decades of ageing and playing, but it provides added tonal depth without losing the clarity, articulation or volume typical of spruce.
