Nord Electro 7

Your sonic control hub for organ, piano & synth

With the new Nord Electro 7, Nord continues the success story of its popular performance keyboards. The series is aimed at musicians who prioritise first-class organ and piano sounds but don't want to give up modern synth features and flexible effects. Whether on stage, in the studio or in the rehearsal room – the Electro 7 combines authentic vintage character with intuitive live control.

At its core is the powerful organ engine from the Nord Organ 3, complemented by a versatile piano section with sounds from the Nord Piano Library and a newly developed synth section with analogue waveforms, FM synthesis and samples. Physical drawbars with LED feedback, a clear colour display and a well thought-out control layout make the Electro 7 a genuine performance instrument.

Key new features of the Nord Electro 7 series

With the Electro 7, Nord presents a number of tangible improvements that raise workflow, playability and live performance to a new level. New features such as the organ engine from the Nord Organ 3, an expanded synth section with FM synthesis, revised effects and the new control concept with a large colour display and LED drawbars make the Electro 7 more versatile than ever.

Christian Frentzen presents the key new features in the video

To give you an initial expert overview of the new series, we invited Christian Frentzen to our video studio. Christian is one of the most versatile keyboard players in the German music scene and has worked with artists such as Till Brönner, Max Mutzke, Nils Landgren, Stefanie Heinzmann and Teddy Teclebrhan. In addition to his work as a live musician, he is also active as a recording engineer, producer and sound designer and released his second solo album “Second Encounter” in 2023.

In the video, Christian demonstrates the sonic possibilities of the new Nord Electro 7 series – from authentic organ sounds and expressive pianos to modern synth textures and the expanded effect sections. Enjoy watching!

Design & colour display

The revised control panel combined with a large, high-resolution colour display provides a significantly improved overview and faster access to all relevant functions. Sounds, categories and parameters can be selected and edited intuitively – without detours through complex menus.

Especially in live use this means: quick sound changes, clear visual feedback and a smooth workflow. In the studio, the optimised layout also speeds up sound design considerably.

Pitch & Mod Control

The models Electro 7 73 and Electro 7 HP feature, for the first time, a pitch stick and a modulation wheel. This gives players additional options for real-time sound shaping.

Whether expressive pitch bends on synth leads, subtle vibrato control or dynamic filter sweeps – the performance feels more alive and direct. Especially for modern productions and solo parts, this significantly expands the range of musical expression.

Drawbars with LED feedback

All models in the Electro 7 series are equipped with physical drawbars including LED feedback. This not only provides an authentic organ feel but also clear visual control of the current settings.

The combination of tactile control and visual feedback enables precise adjustments while playing – ideal for spontaneous sound tweaks on stage.

HP with Kawai Hammer Action

The Electro 7 HP model is equipped with a newly developed, lightweight triple-sensor hammer action created in collaboration with Kawai. The keyboard offers a balanced compromise between realistic weighting and transport-friendliness.

Thanks to the precise response, the instrument is particularly suited to acoustic and electric piano sounds where dynamics and playing nuances are crucial. Pianists benefit from an authentic playing feel – without having to forgo the flexibility of a performance keyboard.

Two Nords. One stage setup.

Nord Electro 7 as the perfect complement to the Nord Stage 4

Together with Christian Frentzen we take a look at the use of the new Nord Electro 7 in professional live situations. As an in-demand keyboard player, producer and sound designer, he shows first-hand how the Electro 7 can be combined optimally with the Nord Stage 4 in a modern pop band live setup.

From authentic organ sounds and expressive pianos to modern synth pads and lead sounds, he explains which roles the individual instruments can take on in a band context and how to build a flexible keyboard rig for live use.

He also gives valuable insights into his personal workflow, demonstrates practical use cases from everyday stage life and reveals how the Nord Electro 7 can be used as the ideal complement to the Nord Stage 4. Enjoy watching!

Organ section

The organ section of the Nord Electro 7 is based on the powerful engine of the Nord Organ 3 and delivers impressively authentic recreations of classic tonewheel, transistor and pipe organs. This is complemented by the latest generation of the legendary rotary speaker simulation – including multiple selectable microphone positions for maximum tonal flexibility.

New features at a glance:

  • Organ engine from the Nord Organ 3
  • New rotary speaker simulation
  • Three microphone positions for the rotary speaker
  • B3, B3 Bass, Vox, Farfisa, Soft B3 & Pipe models
  • B3 with 3 tonewheel modes

The organ models

How they sound, what makes them special and where they're commonly used.

Model Description Key features Typical applications
B3 Three tonewheel variants – from the clear sound of a new organ to the characterful vintage tone with crosstalk and leakage. Polyphonic percussion mode for multi-voice percussion – even on chords. Gospel, Jazz, Soul, Rock
Vox Refined Vox organ sound with reworked waveforms and filters. Optimised key click and authentic vibrato character. 60s Beat, Britpop, Indie
Farfisa Faithful reproduction of the original tone generators and filters. Realistic filter interactions when combining registers. Garage Rock, Psychedelic, Retro Pop
Soft B3 & Pipe Soft B3: warmer, softer sound without artefacts.
Pipe: authentic principal stops of a pipe organ.
Reduced artefacts (Soft B3) & realistic pipe organ emulation. Sacred, Film Music, Ambient

Vibrato & Chorus Scanner

Vintage character of your choice.
The newly developed vibrato and chorus section is sonically modelled on historical originals. You can choose the gentle chorus-scanner sound of a 1950s B3 or the deeper, more intense modulation of a 1970s instrument.

Rotary Speaker

More than just rotation
The rotary simulation of the Electro 7 is also based on the Nord Organ 3 and goes far beyond a pure rotation emulation. Amplifier and speaker character have also been modelled in detail to realistically capture the typical Leslie sound.

Three microphone positions
For stage and studio there are three different microphone setups to choose from. Depending on the position, not only the perceived movement changes but also the tonal character – from direct and punchy to open and spacious.

Piano section

The Nord Electro 7 offers an extensive selection of grand pianos (Grands), upright pianos and legendary electric pianos from the exclusive Nord Piano Library. Thanks to state-of-the-art sampling technology, the finest dynamic gradations, resonances and tonal details of the original instruments are captured authentically. The result is a lively, natural piano sound with extraordinary expressive power – both on stage and in the studio.

Flexibly expandable
In addition to the factory-installed sounds, all sounds from the Nord Piano Library can be easily transferred to the instrument via the Nord Sound Manager Software. This means the Electro 7 can be customised and sonically expanded at any time – from classic concert grands to characterful vintage electric pianos.

New features at a glance:

Dynamic Compression, Unison, Timbre and String Resonance.

Synth section

The Nord Electro 7 features a completely redesigned synth section. It combines analog waveforms and FM synthesis with high-quality samples from the Nord Sample Library, significantly expanding the sonic possibilities. For expressive playing there are mono, legato and glide modes available, providing precise performance control. A resonant low-pass filter and dual ADR envelopes for amp and filter or FM amount offer flexible tone shaping and direct real-time control.

The Nord Sample Library offers a comprehensive selection of high-quality samples, including Spitfire Strings, Supreme Horns, Mellotron sounds and Symphobia sounds. All samples can be easily downloaded and transferred to the instrument via the Nord Sound Manager software.

Effects section

The Nord Electro 7 features a significantly expanded effects section that can be used individually per layer. The wide range of effects includes new reverb and delay types, additional amp models and versatile modulation effects – for maximum sonic flexibility on stage and in the studio.

Reverb, Delay & new amp models
On board is an authentic Spring Reverb that delivers classic vintage character. It is complemented by new amp models such as Brit and Suitcase, which add warmth and presence to the sound.
The Delay offers, alongside versatile parameter options, an analog mode in a vintage style. Three selectable feedback filters open up creative interventions in the tonal structure.

Modulation effects
The modulation section includes classics like Chorus, Phaser and Flanger, modelled after legendary hardware originals. Also included are Ring Modulation for experimental soundscapes and a flexibly usable Tremolo. Rate and amount controls allow precise modulation control.

Nord Electro 7 models at a glance

The Nord Electro 7 series is available in three variants that mainly differ in keyboard range and playing feel. Sonically all models are equipped identically – the difference lies in the keybed and thus in the playing comfort depending on musical priorities.

Nord Electro 7 HP

73 keys (6 octaves, E–E) – Triple Sensor Kawai Hammer Action Portable

The HP model is aimed especially at pianists. The triple-sensor hammer action developed in collaboration with Kawai provides an authentic, dynamic playing feel with precise response. Despite the weighted keyboard the instrument remains transport-friendly and stage-ready. Here, Pitch Stick and modulation wheel are integrated, enabling expressive piano and synth performances alike.

Nord Electro 7 73

73 keys (6 octaves, E–E) – Semi-weighted waterfall keyboard

The 73 version offers an extended range of six octaves and therefore more room for splits and layers. It uses the proven semi-weighted waterfall keyboard – ideal for organists and versatile live performers. This model also features a Pitch Stick and modulation wheel for extended real-time control.

Nord Electro 7 61

61 keys (5 octaves, C–C) – Semi-weighted waterfall keyboard

The 61 version is the most compact model in the series. The semi-weighted waterfall keyboard without a pronounced front edge is particularly suited to organ techniques such as glissandi, fast repetitions and percussive playing. Thanks to its low weight this model is ideal for mobile live keyboardists and setups with limited space.
