Advice for the long life of your acoustic piano

Surface care: When it cover to the finish , it is always best to first clean the instrument thoroughly with a feather duster. If you have fingerprints, we recommend using a cotton cloth (not microfiber) to remove them in circular movements. If it is very dirty, the appropriate cloth can also be slightly moistened (tap water without care products/piano care products).

Piano tuning and service: In the best case scenario, the piano should be tuned twice a year or at least once a year, regardless of usage. This not only ensures the correct tuning, but also the longevity and, above all, the preservation of the value of your instrument. As part of this, your piano will also be subjected to a comprehensive check for optimal settings and functionality.

Room climate and location: Modern pianos are generally very durable because their construction / acoustic and choice of materials are adapted to today's living conditions. But even used or historical instruments are prepared for all situations after a professional overhaul. Underfloor heating is generally no problem at all. The temperature is also not crucial, but rather the humidity. This can be based on a value between 35% and 65% relative humidity. The only less recommended installation location is positioning directly in front of a heater or directly next to an open wood stove. The basic motto is: If people feel good, the piano feels good too!

Repair and maintenance: If you take good care of it, your piano will last for generations without any problems. It is therefore important to react to discrepancies in a timely manner in order to avoid major repair costs. With regular tuning, we will of course always keep you up to date on the condition of your piano. A new piano will last for many years or decades before minor, normal wear and tear repairs may need to be made. Piano strings, for example, often last up to 100 years!

guarantee: The majority of manufacturers such as Yamaha, Kawai and Sauter generally offer a 5-year guarantee on your acoustic instrument.
