A legend returns!

The Minimoog Model D, released in 1970, was the world's first portable synthesizer and served as a model for all subsequent electronic keyboards. The all-analog instrument was well received because it combined the colossal sound of the 1960s Moog modular synthesizers with the accessibility of pre-wired modules - meaning it could be played instantly and intuitively, without the need for patch cable .

The instrument was quickly adopted by a variety of artists , including Herbie Hancock, Kraftwerk, Rick Wakeman, Sun Ra, Piero Umiliani, Giorgio Moroder, Bernie Worrell and Gary Numan, who used it to create unique sounds and create new genres of music.

More than half a century after its invention, the Minimoog Model D is back in production at the Moog factory in Asheville, North Carolina. An extraordinary sonic tool and one of the most popular and iconic synthesizers ever created, it returns to the hands of synthesizer enthusiasts of all stripes and serves as an inspiration for the next generation of electronic musicians.

The three-oscillator monophonic analog synthesizer is housed in a enclosure made from native Appalachian cherry and a hand-crafted aluminum case. The legendary low-pass ladder filter , powerful oscillators and rich, saturating mixer sound as vibrant and deep as ever. The exact arrangement of components and the consistent design of the Minimoog Model D from the 1970s have been retained.

New Features: Make the Moog Model D scream!

While no changes have been made to the original sound engine or audio signal path, the 2022 Minimoog Model D includes a number of popular functional modifications that expand the sonic possibilities of this legendary instrument.

These modifications include a dedicated analog LFO with triangle and square waveforms , a high-quality Fatar keyboard with velocity and aftertouch accessed via top-panel CV connections with integrated trim pots, midi integration , and a mixer feedback modification , with which the Minimoog Model D can be overdriven and literally made to "screech" by turning just one control. And for the first time in its history, the Minimoog Model D features a spring-loaded pitch wheel with center deadband , allowing for enhanced playability and wild performance effects .
