Like all D'Addario string series, the XT strings are available in various gauges, material blends and for different instruments, such as Western, classical and electric guitar as well as bass and mandolin.
Innovation & technology
The XT series benefits from D'Addario's continuous innovations and modern technologies in string production. As a result, they guarantee higher tensile strength, better tuning stability and longer life than standard strings and most coated strings from other manufacturers. The XT coating offers enhanced corrosion resistance while retaining the warm tone and natural feel of an uncoated string. This is achieved by coating the wire before winding. Another advantage is that the string is better protected against corrosion because sweat and dirt can no longer penetrate the tiny spaces between the windings. In addition, D'Addario also coats the thin E and B strings to ensure even wear.
Under the winding, the XT strings rely on a NY Steel core, Hex core and Fusion Twist technology, which offer tonal versatility with added elasticity and are ideal for a variety of acoustic styles.
NY-Steel
XT strings are made from NY-Steel, a high-strength carbon steel processed at D'Addario's exclusive wire facility in Farmingdale, New York.
Hex-Core
Hex Core technology, where the winding wire wraps around the core, provides superior dimensional stability and precise intonation.
Fusion-Twist
Fusion Twist technology prevents the wire from loosening in the twist, resulting in maximum tuning stability and higher breaking strength.
