Like all string series from D'Addario, the XS strings are available in different gauges, material blends and for various instruments, e.g. acoustic and electric guitars, as well as mandolins.
Innovation & Technology
The XS-Series benefits from D'Addario's continuous innovations and modern production technologies in string manufacturing. This guarantees high tensile strength, better tuning stability and probably the longest lifespan compared with standard strings or most coated strings from other manufacturers. The ultra-thin XS coating lets your fingers glide ultralight and super-soft over the strings without dampening the tone. Thanks to the innovative polymer-coating process, where the wire is coated before it is wound into a string, the string is better protected against corrosion because sweat and dirt can no longer penetrate the tiny gaps between the windings. Furthermore, D'Addario also coats the thin E and B strings to ensure even wear.
Under the coating, the XS strings rely on the proven NY-Steel core, Hex-Core and Fusion-Twist technologies, which offer tonal versatility with added elasticity and are excellent for a variety of acoustic styles.
NY-Steel
The XS strings are made from NY-Steel, a high-strength carbon steel processed at D'Addario's exclusive wire facility in Farmingdale, New York.
Hex-Core
Hex-Core technology, where the winding wire wraps around the core, provides superior dimensional stability and precise intonation.
Fusion-Twist
The Fusion-Twist technology prevents the wire from loosening in the twist, resulting in maximum tuning stability and increased break strength.
